Guest Spotlight – Erin Giberson!

​Our guest spotlight this month is Erin Giberson!  Not only is she a Founding Member and Avid labarre supporter, but also a friend of the equipe at the Studio.  We asked Carrie Criss Harvey to help define who Erin is and this is what she had to say!
 
“Erin is a fun-loving, adventure-seeking mom of three! She loves a good time, a good laugh as well as a good workout. Upbeat and positive, as a stay-at-home CEO, she is always willing to take on a project at her kids’ school or around the house. A native of the East Coast, she and her family have made San Jose their home and we couldn’t be more pleased to have her as a part of the family”

Tell us about your family!
A wonderful husband named Dustin & three crazy (yet amazing) kids, Ladia (10), Greta (6) and Ripley (3).

My favorite restaurant is…
Wow!  So many to choose from!
 
Breakfast: Cafe Rosalena's Veggie Florentine burrito or fresh pumpkin donuts from Thompson's in Bingham, Maine. 
Lunch: Phonomenal Noodle House vegetable pho.
Dinner: La Conte's in Boston for their Chicken Cacatorrie, a filet mignon from The Capital Grille and Fore Street in Portland Maine for literally anything they serve!! 
 
Favorite Music:
I'm all over the place with my music taste! 
 
I grew up listening to Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Indigo Girls, Bob Marley, Counting Crows, Bruce Springsteen and any 80's music. They're all still my favorites!  Add to that list current pop music my kids love to listen to while I cook along with the country and metal my husband listens to... it's a smorgasbord of music at our house! 

Where I like to visit…
Our lake house in Maine.  We bought a log cabin on a beautiful secluded lake in the middle of Maine.  We spend as much time there as possible with the kids.  It's wonderful to watch them enjoy all the natural beauty & activities of the great outdoors! We swim, white water raft, hike, boat, leaf peep, ATV, snowmobile, ice fish, sled, the list goes on forever! 

Movie everyone should see.  PERIOD.  

​This is difficult for me because I couldn't pick just one! 

Heathers, Super Troopers,
The Sound of Music, Wild, The Princess Bride, Office Space, What About Bob?, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Visit Alaska to see the northern lights and go dog sledding.
Victoria Falls and African safari.
Visit the Waterfalls of Krka National Park in Croatia.
Go to the Super Bowl (and watch the Patriots win!).

Why is fitness important to you?
I spent most of my young adult life as a competitive swimmer.  I love hard work and thrive to push myself mentally and physically when it comes to fitness.  It's also extremely important for me to show my daughters how strong and healthy a woman can be.  There is no way I'm giving up my vices of delicious food and wine... so exercise and fitness help make sure I can enjoy all life has to offer!!  It also helps that all of the instructors are amazing and make me want to keep coming back!

The most important thing to me is…
Making the only hour I have in a crazy day something that challenges my whole body.  I spend almost my entire day doing things for other people- which I chose and I love- so the hour I spend in labarre studios has become a sanctuary of body movement and meditation! 
 
One thing I learned about myself in the past 6 months is…
I had very little core strength.  I've spent years doing sit ups and crunches with little to no results.  After a few weeks at labarre studios my core, and entire body, feels tight and strong! 
 
The thing I am most proud of is…
Being able to complete all those planks (2 minutes felt great) and all those reps with 8lbs! I love feeling my arms, abs and legs sore in the morning. 
 
I look forward to…
More and more barre of course! I'm super excited about HIIT Pilates and experiencing all the new things la barre will offer!
